2016 Synthesis of Voluntary National Reviews

Guidance and systemization of experiences

As part of its follow-up and review mechanisms, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development encourages member states to "conduct regular and inclusive reviews of progress at the national and sub-national levels, which are country-led and country-driven". This Synthesis report of the 2016 Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) provides a snapshot of the challenges, opportunities as well as lessons learnt of the process towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, taking into account the forty-three countries that presented their VNRs – national development plans – at last July’s High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
