Assessing the Institutional Environment of Local Governments in Africa

Guidance and systemization of experiences , Available in Français

The “city enabling environment rating” assesses the city enabling environment in 50 African countries according to 10 criteria across five areas: local governance, local capacity, financial autonomy, local efficiency, and the national institutional framework. The first study came out in 2012 and the second edition was released during Africities 2015.
