Guidance and systemization of experiences
Local development plays an important role in the development of local economies, enhancing the creation of jobs and livelihoods as well as the provision of basic services to the population, all of which have a significant impact on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. and the well-being of communities. The search for the most appropriate means of locating the Sustainable Development Goals is essential to the successful implementation and optimization of Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Africa. Drawing on research on the state of local governance in West Africa, the report lays the groundwork, highlights best practices, identifies key challenges and proposes strategies and policy options in the following 4 areas : (1) Decentralization and local governance; (2) Local finance and inclusive services; (3) Local Economic Development and (4) Capacity Building. For each section, special considerations and recommendations for fragile and conflict-affected states have been developed.
